Extraction 2 Ending Explained: Chris Hemsworth fans can rejoice as the much anticipated Extraction 2 has finally arrived Netflix on June 16, 2023. This action-packed sequel surpasses its predecessor in brutality, intensity, suspense, and thrilling sequences.
The film deals with criticisms of the ending of the first film and manages to right its past mistakes. The story follows Tyler Rake, played by Chris Hemsworth, as he tries hard to support his family.
Despite being divorced, Tyler’s intense respect compels him to reach out to help his former in-laws.

End of Extraction 2 Explained: How Did Tyler And Nik Get Hurt?
In the gripping conclusion to Extraction 2, Tyler Rake makes the difficult decision to leave his partner, Nik Kahn, and face Zurab and his crew alone.
Tyler’s motivations are twofold: he wants to make sure Nik’s safety and work things out personally with the gangster.
His main goal is to save Sandro, the son of his ex-brother-in-law, who is being held captive by Zurab, his own uncle and the main villain of the film.
Armed with a grenade launcher, Tyler infiltrates Zurab’s base and methodically eliminates his men. However, he was shot in the process.
Impatient, Tyler tracks Zurab to a close by church where he finds Sandro wearing a suicide bomb vest. Tensions rise when Zurab demands that Sandro shoot Tyler, avenging his brother’s death at Tyler’s hands. In a series of events, Nik arrives and points his gun at Zurab, forcing him to let Sandro go.
As the three engage in a brutal fight, Tyler emerges victorious by killing Zurab. However, Nik is injured in the confrontation. Subsequently, Georgian officials came and arrested all parties involved. The film then jumps to a scene in Schwarzau jail, where Tyler and Nik are incarcerated but are in recovery.
Tyler’s ex-wife Mia visits him and tells him that Sandro was fine and their daughter idolized Tyler before he died.
After Mia’s departure, Tyler is taken to a remote area to meet Alcott, who offers him an opportunity to escape jail in exchange for an additional job.
To Tyler’s surprise, Nik appears, having made a significant recovery, indicating a possible new mission. This ending teasingly hints at a potential third installment in Extraction.
Who Died At The End Of Extraction 2?
At the extreme end of Extraction 2, after escaping from a daring jail, Tyler Rake finds himself accidentally killing Davit, Ketevan’s husband, who had taken him and their kids into custody.
This causes Zurab, Davit’s brother and leader of the Georgian paramilitary group The Nagazi, to mobilize his army under a vow to avenge his brother’s death.
Determined to avenge his brother’s death, Zurab raises his army and launches a daylight assault on a safe house in Austria. In the consequent shootout, Zurab manages to kill Nik’s brother, Yaz, and kidnap his own nephew, Sandro.
After securing Ketevan and his daughter’s safety, Tyler receives a call from Zurab, demanding a meeting in exchange for Sandro’s life. The climax of Extraction 2 unfolds as Tyler prepares and launches an assault on the airstrip where Zurab is waiting.
Their confrontation takes place at a church, where a failed try to manipulate Sandro into shooting Tyler takes place. A brutal fight ensues between Zurab and Tyler, with the latter finally emerging victorious by delivering a fatal shot to Zurab’s head.
What Happens To Tyler’s Son At The End Of Extraction 2?
In Extraction 2, the emotional baggage of Tyler Rake’s past continues to haunt him. The film delves deeper into his guilt and divulges that he left his son, who has lymphoma because he couldn’t bear to witness his suffering and eventual death.
During a poignant confrontation with Mia, Tyler confesses that he’s unable to fix the situation and his son’s last memory of him is fading. However, in a touching revelation during the film’s ending, Mia relates that their son views Tyler as a hero who went to Afghanistan to save lives.
Their son believes his father is brave, and Mia acknowledges his strength in his final days. While Extraction 2 offered Tyler a sense of redemption and closure, Mia still harbors hatred for him, although they find peace in their relationship.
