The upcoming biographical drama miniseries ‘A Small Light’ is set to come with a memorable historical event and several cast members who are committed to portraying it.
The plot of this biographical drama follows the story of the brave and kind-hearted Hermine Gies or Miep who hid the Otto Frank family including Anne Frank in an annex during World War II.
Miep is Otto’s secretary and asked by him to protect his family from the Nazis. Things are under control until his dentist also asks about the hiding place.
When Does Little Light Let Go?

The miniseries was first greenlit by Disney+ from National Geographic in February 2022. Susana Fogel, Avi Nir, Tony Phelan, Joan Rater, Alone ShtruzmanAnd Peter Tragot serves as executive producer for the series.
Bel Powley was cast in the lead role of Gies in April 2022 with Liev Schreiber and Joe Cole also joining the cast.
More cast members joined in June of that year. Production on the series began in July and shooting took place in the summer between Prague, Hradec Králové and Amsterdam.
National Geographic released the series’ official trailer on April 4 this year on YouTube. The miniseries will premiere on May 1, 2023.

Powley Bell-

British actress Bell Powley has been chosen to play the main character Miep Gies in the series. Powley previously starred in a number of films and tv series.
Her first big tv role was in the action series ‘MI High’ where she played Daisy Millar from 2007 to 2008. In the 2009 miniseries, she played Bel Powley.
In the sixth season of the British sitcom ‘Benidorm’, she played the main character Bianca Dyke in 2014. In 2018 Powley starred in the six-part BBC drama ‘Informer’ as DC Holly Morten.
From 2019 to 2021 she was the main character in the first season of the American drama tv series ‘The Morning Show’ playing Claire Conway. He also reprized this role in a guest role in the second season.
Last year she played the main character Birdy in the British comedy-drama series ‘Everything I Know About Love’.
Apart from ‘A Small Light’, Powley will even be starring in the upcoming war drama series ‘Masters of the Air’ in the role of Sandra Wingate.
Powley’s film credits include ‘The Diary of a Teenage Girl’, ‘A Royal Night Out’, ‘Equals’, ‘Detour’, ‘Carrie Pilby’, ‘Mary Shelley’, ‘Wildling’, ‘White Boy Rick’, ‘Ashes in the Snow’, ‘The King of Staten Island’ etc. She was nominated for a BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2016 for her role in ‘The Diary of a Teenage Girl’.
Liev Schreiber-

Playing Otto Frank, we will see an American actor Liev Schreiber in series. He starred in a number of television series and films before.
In 2003 he played Ernst Hanfstaengl in the Canadian miniseries ‘Hitler: The Rise of Evil’.
From 2013 to 2020 he portrayed the lead and titular role of Ray Donovan in the American crime drama series ‘Ray Donovan’ while also serving as writer, producer and director.
Joe Cole-

As Miep’s husband, Jan Gies, we will see the British actor Joe Cole in a future series. Cole is familiar as John Shelby in the BBC’s acclaimed period crime drama series’Peak Blinders‘ in which he played the main character from 2013 to 2017.
He was nominated for the TV BAFTA Award for Best Leading Actor for playing Frank in the British TV anthology series ‘Black Mirror’ in 2017.
In 2019 Cole played the main character Charlie in the British Channel 4 TV series ‘Pure’. He also played the main character Sean Wallace in the British tv series ‘Gangs of London in 2020.
Last year he starred as Harry Palmer in the British cold war spy thriller miniseries ‘The Ippress File’.
Amira Casar-

As the wife of Otto Frank, Anne Frank, British-born actress Amira Casar will be seen in the series. Casar previously played Beatrice, Madame de Clermont in the French historical fiction drama ‘Versailles’.
Billie Boulet-

Anne Frank is a familiar name to people, thanks to the incomparable and heartbreaking ‘The Diary of a Young Girl’ which is probably the most famous books in the world.
New British actress Billie Boulette has been cast to portray the character. Previously she had starred in the kids’s fantasy drama series ‘The Worst Witch’ playing Fenella Feverfew.
Ashley Brooke-

As for playing Margot Frank, Anne’s older sister, we’ll see Ashley Brooke. He previously appeared in single episodes of ‘The Blacklist’, ‘New Amsterdam’, ‘Bull’, ‘Bizaardvark’, and ‘The Other Two’. He also directed and starred in two short films ‘Girls Trip’ and ‘Don’t Ask’.
