Sanditon is near returning with Sanditon Season 3 and its final season. Andrew Davies developed a historical drama series adapted from Jane Austen’s unfinished script.
Austen had finished 24,000 words at the time of his death. The plot is set in the Regency era and revolves around the naïve and young heroine Charlotte Heywood who navigates a new seaside resort called Sanditon where she comes across unexpectedly and where the passionate and unconventional woman comes face to face with suitors and devious residents. .
The series received a mixed reception from viewers as some of them criticized the series for depictions of nudity and s*x that were foreign to Jane Austen’s work and have been referred to as “unlike Austen”.
Viewers also expect a happy ending as this is a common feature of Austen’s world.
When Will Sanditon Season 3 Release?
The first season of the series premiered on 25 August 2019 on ITV with eight episodes. In the United States, the series premiered on January 12, 2020 PBS which assisted in series production. In May 2021, the second and third seasons were announced.
Sanditon Season 3 will be the last. Season 3 shooting began in July 2021 and premiered on 20 March 2022, on PBS and on 22 July 2022, on ITV.
PBS Masterpiece released the season finale of Season 3 on YouTube on December 13, 2022. The third season is scheduled to arrive on March 19, 2023, with six episodes like the previous season.
