The comic book series, initially titled Chosen and launched in 2004, was one of Millarworld’s early products. Mark Millar wrote the story, and Peter Gross illustrated it.
The publication was later re-released as The American Jesus, for a total of three issues. In 2019 and 2020, a new comic series titled American Jesus: The New Messiah was released.
By acquiring Millarworld in 2017, Netflix acquired a collection of comics that included American Jesus. One year after the acquisition, Millarworld’s first line of episodes and films were released, including American Jesus.
What’s the official storyline for ‘The Chosen One’?
Jodie, a 12-year-old boy from Baja California, discovers that she has Jesus-like abilities where she can turn water into wine, make paralyzed people walk, and perhaps even raise the dead!
As the Evangelical and Yaqu leaders in the area try to convince her to use her talents to save humanity, all Jodie wants to do is charm the girl she adores and stand up to her bullies.
While Jodie struggles and ultimately accepts her destiny, all is shaken when she learns that she has discovered the reality about her identity.
Is there a release date for ‘The Chosen One’?
The Chosen One hasn’t received a release date yet, but is slated to debut on Netflix later this year. Various rumors are circulating claiming that the series might be released in August 2023.
