Acclaimed period drama manga Ōoku: The Inner Chambers is getting an anime adaptation accessible only on Netflix in 2023.
Oku: The Inner Chambers is an upcoming Japanese Netflix Original historic animated series based on Fumi Yoshinaga’s manga series of the very same name.
The animation company overseeing the project is Deen’s company, which also made the final two seasons The Seven Deadly Sins.
At this year’s Anime Japan festival in Tokyo, the streaming service also revealed “Yakitori: Soldiers of Misfortune,” an anime show based on Carlo Zen’s militaristic sci-fi novels, which will debut in May. Hakusensha / Melody released the original manga.
“Ooku,” directed by Abe Noriyuki and developed by Studio Deen, is based on a story told in the Ooku ladies’ room in Edo Castle and imagines the gender roles being reversed.
As the pandemic affected the male population, women rose to positions of power. Newly appointed female Shogun Yoshimune investigates whether women took male names on their rise to power and begins to unravel other secrets within a private shrine.
Netflix hasn’t provided a confirmed release date for the anime yet, even though we do know it will release someplace in the third quarter of 2023. We’ll update you with the latest information once confirmation arrives from Netflix.

A weird new disease known as Redface Pox started spreading amongst men in Edo era Japan in the 1600s to 1860s.
After 80 years of the initial epidemic, the male population had shrunk to a quarter of the total female population. Women have taken on all the customary duties of men, including the Shogun.
Men, who were the most precious givers of life, were jealously guarded, and the most handsome men were assigned to perform duties in the Shogun’s Inner Chamber.
