The long-awaited series, created by F1: Drive to Survive producer of Quadbox and Box to Box Films, follows the seven teams of the 2022 Tour de France with exclusive access to behind the scenes activity.
Previously listed as “Untitled Tour de France Documenties”, the title has been confirmed to be “Unchained”.
What is the Netflix documentary about Tour de France: Unchained about?

To understand the various stakes of a race, our series de France will follow every participant in Tour de France: Unchained as closely as possible, from cyclists to team management.
It claims to highlight the competition and “backstage” of the eight competing teams, allowing viewers to get a glimpse of how the teams train for the Grand Boucle stage and cross the finish line.
Depicting their feelings and suffering as they struggle to reach Paris, win a set, or achieve ultimate success.
However, not all teams want to participate. Tadej Pogaar, two-time Tour de France: Unchained Champion and Team Emirates UAE decided not to take part, citing concerns about how the team and its sponsors would be perceived.
Nevertheless, they made brief appearances in race broadcasts and in interviews with other competing teams.
With a focus on suffering, pushing boundaries and teamwork, this series aims to take a narrative approach to the sport and highlight how the Tour de France epitomizes its participants’ greatest struggles.

‘Tour de France: Au coeur du peloton’ (In the peloton), a different title for the series, was used in an earlier trailer, which is believed to be a work-in-progress draft. ‘Tour de France: Unchained’ is the title given to the recent English edition.
